Welcome to Bris-banned!

Nationals is just around the corner. Let’s shake things up this year and get together to blast some tunes!

This is open to everyone from any band, so invite all your bandies and come down for a jam! If you have friends in Brissy, drag them along too!

Where/When?

3pm Sunday 5th April

We’ll meet up at King George Square with instruments ready, then start playing for all the unfortunate people walking by.

If it’s sunny, we’ll play right in the middle of the square. If it’s raining, we’ll meet in the undercover area where the official photos happened last time (map shown for reference - go up the ramp from Ann St).

What are we playing?

I’ve arranged three charts with flex-parts for different instruments and abilities (including percussion!). Parts are labelled with a suggested allocation based on your part in the ensemble, but pick whichever part you’re comfortable with.

What to bring?

Your sense of fun and whimsy, of course!

But seriously, this will be a standing and playing gig, so no chairs will be provided (or any equipment, really). Bring your own lyres, stands, music, and any other things you might need - you should have most of it from the marching on Friday.

Just so we can track numbers, please fill out this form if you’re planning to join in: https://forms.gle/RtPcSKSU66bhxDrK6

Parts

PLEASE print out your own parts to bring with you! We will NOT be supplying music (there’s an Officeworks just around the corner if you’re desperate).

Parts are uploaded here, including reference recordings for those who like to use them: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NwOjFUzGRCDLmaui7rXhsLDJl41hPsv5?usp=sharing

Parts are labelled with suggested instrumentation, but pick whichever part you feel comfortable with (preferably within the same group…). In general, Part 1/3/5 are more difficult, and Part 2/4/6/7 are easier.
Percussion parts are written for portable/marching instruments (bass drum, snare drum, tambourine). If you don’t have these, bring whatever boom/kat/tsst instruments you have.

Part 1: Flute 1, Oboe 1, Clarinet 1, Trumpet 1, Cornet 1, Eb Clarinet, Sop Cornet

Part 2: Flute 2, Oboe 2, Clarinet 2, Trumpet 2, Cornet 2

Part 3: Clarinet 3, Flugelhorn, Alto 1, F Horn 1, Tenor Horn 1

Part 4: Tenor Sax 1, Alto 2, Tenor Horn 2, F Horn 2, Baritone 1

Part 5: Tenor Sax 2, Trombone 1, Euphonium 1

Part 6: Bassoon 1, Trombone 2, Bass Trombone, Baritone 2, Euphonium 2

Part 7: Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax, Bassoon 2, Tuba

Part 8: Percussion (Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Tambourine)
